Program

During Earthquake Day, the public will enjoy exhibitions, public lectures, earthquake drills, contests, documentaries of earthquake research at UBC, and many other activities. The communities can learn from local and international experts about all phases of earthquake resilience, namely mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. It is also an opportunity to network and potentially partner with groups of similar interests.

VECTOR, the Vancouver Emergency Communications Telecommunications Organization, will present its Community Emergency Response Vehicle (CERV) on Earthquake Day. The CERV acts as a radio and command vehicle supporting VECTOR deployments on behalf of the City. The CERV provides five multi-modal voice and data radio communications operating positions and meeting spaces. Also, Vancouver Police Department, Vancouver Fire Rescue, Vancouver Urban Search and Rescue, St. John Ambulance, and Salvation Army Food Truck will be on site for public displays.
